Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.  故事开始于十六世纪初，因为皇后凯瑟琳（宾妮·巴尼斯 Binnie Barnes 饰）无法生育，英国国王亨利八世（查尔斯·劳顿 Charles Laughton 饰）同她离婚，另娶了名为恩尼（梅尔·奥勃朗 Merle Oberon 饰）的女子为皇后，哪知道野心勃勃的恩尼整天盘算着推翻丈夫的统治自立为王，当她的阴谋败露之后，亨利八世亲手将她送上了断头台。恩尼死后，亨利八世娶了奇恩（温迪·巴里 Wendy Barrie 饰）为妻，哪知道在生产时，奇恩因为难产而死，只留下了一个可怜的婴儿威尔斯（迈尔斯·曼德 Miles Mander 饰）。之后，大臣们想要国王迎娶德国公主，可这一次，国王驳回了大臣们的请求。
