 影片开始于两个都叫玛丽的少女（Jitka Cerhová 和 Ivana Karbanová 饰）的对话：没有人理解我们，这个世界上的一切正在变得越来越糟糕。于是两人决定：我们也要变得越来越坏！玛丽一号喜欢和老男人约会，在他们吃饭的时候，玛丽二号会突然出现，旁若无人地大吃特吃。玛丽一号把老男人送上火车，老男人以为她会陪着他，火车开动，她却下了火车。玛丽二号在一个收藏蝴蝶标本的男青年家中，用他的标本遮住自己身体的隐秘部位。她们在夜总会里捣乱，最后被赶走。她们无意中闯入一个没有人的宴会，开始肆无忌惮地享受美食.....本片献给精神生活一团糟的人们。

 影片主线讲述了19世纪一户普通家庭来到芝加哥并奋斗的故事，影片后半一头母牛碰倒了提灯点燃了大火，展现了惊人的火灾场景。

Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
